Archanes is an ancient traditional village in eastern Crete, in the lap of Mount Juktas, the mountain sacred in the Minoan civilisation of Bronze Age Crete. In this week-long seminar for women, we will explore the archetype of the Mountain Goddess as she is embodied in traditional women's ritual dances from Crete, Greece, the Balkans and Armenia. We will also visit the Mount Juktas Peak Shrine Sanctuary and the Archanes archaeological museum, learn about traditional weaving and antique textiles, and spend a morning with Myrto Politaki making our own clay figurines.
